Overnight Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 pkg yeast
- 1 c hot water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 c shortening
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 c sugar
- 3 eggs
- 16–18 c flour
- 4 c warm water
Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture
Best ratio is 4-1:
- 1 c sugar
- ¼ c cinnamon
Frosting
- 1 2-lb bag of powdered sugar (≈7 c)
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- ⅓ c milk
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in 1 c hot water and tbsp sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes.
- Mix: shortening, salt, sugar, and eggs.
- Add: 8 c flour and 4 c warm water, then add yeast mixture.
- Remove ½ of dough from mixer (about 5 ½ c). Add 4–5 c flour to remaining dough.
- With dough hook, knead until forms a nice ball. Repeat with remaining dough.
- Let rise 4–6 hours.
- Roll into large rectangle and sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar mixture after you spread it with butter.
- Roll into long tube and slice into 1" thick rolls.
- Place on jelly roll pan, cover with tea towels and let rise overnight.
- Bake at 350℉ for 17–22 minutes.
- Cool and frost.
