Gold Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix
  • ⅓ c evaporated milk
  • ¾ c butter, melted
  • 20 caramels
  • ⅓ c evaporated milk (additional)
  • 1 c chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Mix cake mix, ⅓ c evaporated milk, and melted butter together.
  2. Spread half of this mixture into a greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
  3. Bake at 350 ℉ for 10 minutes.
  4. While the first layer bakes, cook caramels with the remaining ⅓ c evaporated milk in the microwave for 1–3 minutes, stirring every minute until smooth.
  5. Once the first layer is done, pour the caramel mixture over the baked cake layer.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel layer.
  7. Spread the remaining cake mixture on top.
  8. Bake at 350 ℉ for an additional 15–20 minutes.
