Chocolate Logs
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 8 oz softened cream cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract
- 3 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 6 oz chocolate chips, melted
Directions
- Cream together the sugar, butter, and cream cheese until well combined.
- Blend in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and baking powder.
- Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and blend well.
- Add the melted chocolate chips and mix thoroughly.
- Form the dough into walnut-sized balls, then pinch them until they are 2 inches long.
- Bake at 375 ℉ for 8–10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. Note: Be careful not to overbake (as noted in the handwritten comment on the recipe).
- Allow cookies to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dip the ends in thinned powdered sugar icing.
- Finally, dip the iced ends in decorative candies.
