Chocolate Logs

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 6 oz chocolate chips, melted

Directions

  1. Cream together the sugar, butter, and cream cheese until well combined.
  2. Blend in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and baking powder.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and blend well.
  5. Add the melted chocolate chips and mix thoroughly.
  6. Form the dough into walnut-sized balls, then pinch them until they are 2 inches long.
  7. Bake at 375 ℉ for 8–10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. Note: Be careful not to overbake (as noted in the handwritten comment on the recipe).
  8. Allow cookies to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dip the ends in thinned powdered sugar icing.
  10. Finally, dip the iced ends in decorative candies.
