Cherry Almond Amish Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
Cookies
- 12 oz jar maraschino cherries, minced & very dry
- 2 c butter
- ½ c canola oil
- ½ c sugar
- ½ tsp each almond & cherry extract
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ c cream of tartar
- 2 ¾ c flour
Icing
- 2 tbsp butter (melted)
- ⅛ c maraschino cherry juice (add more to taste as desired)
- ½ tsp each almond & cherry extract
- 2–3 c powdered sugar
Directions
- Beat butter, oil & sugars until combined.
- Beat in eggs, extracts, cherries (make sure they're very dry).
- Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to wet mixture (don't overmix).
- Bake at 375 ℉ for 8–11 minutes or until lightly browned edges.
Yields 3 dozen.
